Special Hotel Rates

If you love bargains you probably wish you could get special hotel rates to stay in the hotels you could not otherwise afford. There are two ways you can find special hotel rates and you don’t have to spend hours doing the research.

The first method for getting the best hotel rate is to look at the travel sites online. Nearly all hotel chains, resorts, spa hotels and boutiques use these online sites to sell off their excess capacity. If the hotel is not totally sold out, the hotel is not leveraging every room and therefore losing money on their facility. When a hotel cannot sell all the rooms at the usual rate, they offer special rates to attract customers, hoping to make some money on the room. Earning a lower rate on the room is better than earning no money on the room.  

The hotel and travel sites provide a quick way to find hotels in the area you want to stay and research prices, amenities, location and other factors and choose the rate you can afford. On some of these travel sites you can even place your own bid and undercut the rates advertised on the site. The hotel does not have to accept the offer, but you just might get a great deal if you make the effort. Be reasonable in your offer and don’t offer a ridiculous price like $10.00 for a $300.00 room. You aren’t going to get that deal!

The second method you can use to get a special hotel rate is to join a travel club. You pay an annual fee to join these clubs but you can get travel rates. If you plan to travel a lot over the course of a year, the investment in the travel club might be a good idea. If you are not going to ravel more than once or twice during the year, the annual fee for the club may outweigh the discount you will receive for the hotel rates.  

Getting a special hotel rate is a lot of fun. You arrive in the hotel, open the door and get a view of the room, the spa tub, the luxurious robe behind the door, the view from the window and the flat screen TV and you immediately feel pampered and spoiled – all for the price of a medium priced chain hotel. It’s worth every penny!
